On numerous trips to Oman I have been inspired by the rich marine life and have been beachcombing for shells. This has been a great source of inspiration for my work.
One of the most intriguing finds have been the Argonaut shells that have inspired a series of bowls.
The Argonaut-bowls start their life as an ordinary hemispherical bowl, that is cut and knocked into shape, with details modelled and added. Finally they are decorated with slip in patterns that resemble wave patterns on a sandy bottom.
The finished bowl is partly glazed, giving it a textural surface.
